SAFETY EQUIPMENT

  1. Helmets – Helmets must be of the type approved by the Snell Memorial foundation with a Snell or D.O.T sticker attached. Straps must have D – ring fasteners only. No snaps or Velcro will be permitted. The interior and exterior areas of the helmet must be free of defects (i.e., the padding must be in good condition and the exterior of the helmet must not be damaged.) RMURA strongly recommends that entrants use helmets specifically designed for racing.
  2. Protective Clothing – Protective clothing accessories are required to include but not limited to gloves, race suit and race boots or shoes. SFI rated equipment is highly recommended.
  3. Eye protection – Shatter resistant eye protection is required for all SXS entrants competing in an RMURA event.

SXS Safety and Equipment

Expert and Production Classes

  1. All vehicles must pass technical inspection prior to going to starting line. Failure to do so will result in DSQ.
  2. All factory suspension a-arm, trailing arm pivot points must remain in stock location.
  3. No superchargers, turbos or any other pressurization/injection type system will be allowed except in unlimited class. Nitrous is not allowed at all.
  4. All vehicles must have a fire extinguisher and it must be readily accessible to the driver. It must be mounted in with a quick release type mechanism.
  5. Race numbers will be a minimum of 7 inches tall with the specific color designation for the class. Number shall be readable from sides and back of each car.
  6. Aftermarket well-built roll cages made for racing are recommended. Factory cages will only be allowed if modified/reinforced and tied into rear bumper/frame at two points ( ie 6 point cage ). Gusseting of the factory cage is highly encouraged.
  7. Metal roof panels are required.
  8. Lockable side protection doors must be mounted in a way as to not be able to pop open during racing. Factory doors with secondary locking mechanism are approved.
  9. Driver side window nets are required.
  10. Passenger side nets or passenger hand restraints are required.
  11. 3” wide five point restraint system for both driver and occupant are required. The 5 point system must include an anti submarine belt that is at least 2” wide.
  12. Full personal safety gear must be worn to include:
    1. Fire resistant suits must be worn that cover from neck to ankles
    2. Helmets, gloves, goggles racing shoes or boots.
    3. Motorcycle type race gear will NOT be allowed as it is extremely flammable.
    4. We suggest use the use of neck braces or devices. Such as Leatt, Hans, etc.
  13. Tech hours are Sat 7:00am- 10:00am Saturday and vehicles must go thru Tech prior to going to the start line.
  14. All youth classes will abide by the same safety mods as the adult classes. Youth may use 2″ harnesses.
  15. All Expert SXS staging is by series points and is finalized at posted schedule time Sat and posted on the RMURA results board for viewing. If you enter for your race after posted schedule time you will go to the end of the staging order. Staging will begin 30 minutes prior to each race start time. Your number will be called and if there is no drivers rep/driver or car present that position will be lost.
  16. All other SXS classes are staged in order of arrival to the start line.
  17. There is no passing in the scoring chute.
  18. The speed limit in the scoring chute is 5 MPH.
  19. All SXS Racers/or representative must attend and sign in at the mandatory drivers meeting on Saturday at posted scheduled time at registration. Failure to attend will mean loss of staging position.

The following rules only apply to Sportsman and Beginner Sportsman class.

  1. No vehicle may race more than 3 times in the Beginner or Sportsman Class without meeting all safety requirements for their race class. Prior to being moved to the appropriate race class for your vehicle.

  8. Factory Roll cages are allowed but not recommended. Aftermarket well-built roll cages made for racing are recommended. If factory roll cage is used gusseting and supporting the factory cage at two points that go to rear bumper/frame are highly encouraged.

ATV Classes

4: Emergency Kill SwitchAll ATV’s must have a tether cord kill switch. Nerf bars or floor boards are required on all entrant vehicles.
